AmberPoint Announces Integration with IBM WebSphere DataPower

AmberPoint Extends Its Comprehensive Business Transaction Management Capabilities to Leading SOA Appliance

Oakland, CA, April 6, 2009 -- AmberPoint today announced that it has integrated its composite application management solutions with IBM WebSphere DataPower, the industry's leading SOA appliance. As a result of this integration, AmberPoint can bring its extensive Business Transaction Management (BTM) as well as other critical management capabilities to application environments that include DataPower appliances. AmberPoint gives organizations visibility into not only performance metrics, such as throughput, but also the business content of the message stream, enabling users to pinpoint lost and failed transactions based on business-related data, such as customer ID or order number.

"Organizations have long sought end-to-end management capabilities—no easy task in light of how federated enterprise systems have become," said Julie Craig, a Research Director at Enterprise Management Associates. "In light of the important role appliances have come to play in both SOA and web applications, the ability to monitor and manage the transactions flowing through them is critical. AmberPoint's integration with DataPower is a big step forward in the goal of end-to-end management."

In related news, AmberPoint also announced its next-generation Business Transaction Management today (see "AmberPoint Introduces Business Transaction Safety Net").

In dealing with transaction issues, AmberPoint users can:

  • Gain detailed insight into message flows, response times, throughput, errors, etc.

  • Establish service level agreements for transactions and manage their systems to those quality of service goals

  • Receive real-time alerts for slow, lost, failed, non-compliant and fraudulent transactions

  • Rapidly locate errant transactions and identify the root cause

  • Improve the communication and collaboration between business operations and IT operations teams

"We see quite a lot of DataPower implementations in the market, whether it’s used for acceleration, perimeter security or serving as an ESB in a box," said Gary Rinedollar, Vice President of Alliances at AmberPoint. "We're now able to bring a comprehensive set of monitoring and management capabilities to services running through DataPower, which will bring lasting benefits to many of the customers we share."
